Half Marathon
A challenging yet rewarding course, the Half Marathon is perfect for seasoned runners and those looking to test their endurance on a peaceful, scenic route.
The recently refurbished rolled-stone tracks provide great running conditions for runners chasing a new PB, while the tranquil surrounds offer plenty of opportunity to settle into your rhythm and enjoy the journey.
The final stage brings runners back along the western rim of the volcanic crater, with glimpses of Lake Surprise along the way. From here, the path guides you back to the finish precinct, where every runner is warmly welcomed across the line and celebrated for their achievement.
10 km run
At 10km, this is a great option for intermediate runners looking for a slightly shorter challenge than the half marathon.
The scenic route heads straight into tranquil bushland, where you can settle into a calm rhythm surrounded by the rustle of manna gums and the songs of native birds. As you reach the final stage, the course follows the western rim of the volcanic crater, offering glimpses of Lake Surprise along the way.
From there, the path guides you back towards the finish precinct, where every runner is warmly welcomed across the line and celebrated for their achievement.
3 km run
3km Run/Walk taking on the breath-taking scenic views of Lake Surprise, and stretching as far as you can see to the ocean and Portland, trekking around the rim of an extinct volcano.
A challenging course reaching the peak of the former Mt Eccles (now Budj Bim, meaning Big Head), and meandering through the rocky out crops and towering manna gums. The path guiding you back to the finish precinct, where every runner is welcomed across the line to celebrate their achievement.
Family run/walk
Family run/walk, a short 800m course suited to all abilities, encouraging young athletes, families, prams, wheel chairs and ability scooters to encourage maximum participation.
Tracks are bitumen or gravel, taking on the beautiful scenery and a glimpse of Lake Surprise. If you are lucky, you might spot a koala hidden in the majestic manna gums.
There will be an activity children can participate in while on the family walk.
